I went to go to bed tonight & noticed one of our rugs were wet. My first reaction was that one of the dogs snuck downstairs when I wasn’t looking & did a number on the floor. I flicked on the light to see where the “wet” was so I could clean it up. The whole half of the basement where our room is was wet. One of our suitcase – soaked. Three rugs – soaked. Our Christmas Tree box – wet but only part of the bottom. Our comforter that was on the coach – soaked because it was on the floor so it could be washed. The carpet in our bedroom – damp by the inside wall (the water came across the floor into the bedroom).
The water from all the rain we got today is starting to seep through the mortor around the bricks. The area by the shower is fine. That’s not wet at all. Chip’s room is soaked. Water is also started coming through behind our washer. Anything we can get upstairs tomorrow is coming up. We’re picking up a U-haul on Thursday so we can move the majority of our stuff to storage in Escanaba so having everything upstairs won’t be that big of an inconvenience. Since Adam will more then likely be heading south in a couple weeks we’re trying to get everything moved now so I won’t have to do it while he’s gone – and during the winter. I’m glad we have everything on crates or in plastic bins in our storage unit otherwise that would probably be a nasty mess, too. Chip is on a hunt for a place to rent. I’ll be staying with him during the week while I’m working & with Esther on the weekends until Adam & I permanently moved down there.
*sigh* Moving out of this dump can’t come soon enough. I can’t wait to see how much more water is going to come in over the next 2 days.
P.S. I don’t have an exact date for those of you that want to know how soon our permanent move is going to happen. It’ll either be when I find a job in that area or when Adam comes home from the south – whichever comes first. I’m almost to the point of finding two part time (or lesser paying) jobs until something in my field comes up just to get out of here.
