WOWIE! That’s all I have to say. I think this is the 2nd most snow we got since I moved down here.
I woke up at 5:15 this morning cuz I was going to go in to work for 7:00. Like I do every morning, I looked at the Wisconsin Road Conditions so I could see what to expect on my ride to work. Since pretty much the entire state of Wisconsin was red (snow covered & slippery), I checked out WBAY.com to see the school closing situation. Everything between Stephenson, MI & Wrightstown was closed…. but nothing south of that. sigh
So, I went downstairs to see if I would have to shovel to get my car out of the driveway. There was a drift that went up to the front bumper and about a good 6” of snow on top the car. But it stopped snowing. sigh
I came back upstairs to see if anymore schools were added. A few were, but not Kaukauna, Appleton, or Oshkosh. So I turned the TV on to see what they had to say about the roads… state police said hazardous but few cars in the ditch overnight but they were expecting several once rush hour hits. sigh
I refresh the screen to see if anymore schools were added. I saw Menasha was on there…. a few minutes later Oshkosh & Kaukana appeared. After about 10 more minutes, all schools up to Oshkosh & Sheboygan closed. Even some of the colleges were closed. By this time, I knew I’d be going in for 8:00 instead because the roads were so horrible. sigh
I peaked outside the window that’s upstairs. Apparently it was blowing really hard last night because snow was stuck to the screen. Between snow splotches I could see it was snowing really hard again but wasn’t sure if it was actually snowing or if it was snow blowing off the roof. So I went back downstairs & saw it was in fact snowing… REALLY HARD. I could barely see down the street.
At that point I decided I wasn’t going to drive 45 miles to work under those conditions. So I called in then called my brother Chip & told him not to come down to his appointment today. It’s highly unlikely we’ll be heading up north this weekend like we planned – at least not tonight. So here I sit, snowed in & wide awake. If nothing else, I’ll have the dogs to amuse me while they play in the fresh powder today. I’ll have to try to get some pics this time cuz I’m sure as soon as they hit the snow, they’ll be up to their ears. giggle
