Boyfriend, Freya, & I took a ride out to the Rez for Father’s Day. When we got to his parent’s house Freya made a bee-line straight down to the lake.

This has been her new favorite thing since she discovered it about a month ago. She originally started going down there to get a drink when she was warm… until she slipped in one day. Ever since it’s been big, splashy fun. She usually only goes in until her tummy touches the water but she made a new discovery yesterday… she knew how to swim! Yet another thing that makes her a super cool dog is that she likes to stick her nose in water & blow bubbles. Okay. Not so cool when she does it in her water dish at home and gets the kitchen floor soaked but it’s still amusing to watch her. Anyway, she started fetching sticks that we’d toss in for her. One time I accidentally tossed in a waterlogged stick that sunk to the bottom. She dove under the water and got it! I have a dog that dives!! I heart her.

Later in the afternoon BF’s brother had to go out to the woods to fuel up some of the equipment so the 3 of us took a ride into the woods with him. It was a fun ride. It would have been perfect had I not accidentally sat on some fresh cut pine logs & got pitch all over my shorts. Oops. Since I was out & had my camera I decided to take a few pics.

This is by far my favorite pic of the day.

I’ve been putting off sewing for months now. I have everything I need except the courage to start. The quilt project seemed to be overwhelming so I decided to work on something smaller for myself. I’d rather practice on projects for myself then tackle a larger project as a gift for someone else (since I’m inexperienced there’s a larger chance of flubs). I’m making Dave some oven mitts for my first project. It has been driving me insane that he doesn’t have any so I decided to make him some super cool guy-ish oven mitts. This isn’t technically a project for “myself” but it’s staying in the house so I’m less nervous about it.

I’m using Alexander Henry’s Bad Luck Club Skull fabric on the outside with red cotton fabric for the lining and black cotton fabric for the binding. I got the idea from Miss Behave. She used the same pattern but in red for oven mitts for her brother.

In other news, I’m very impatiently waiting on the tires for Big Pinkie. After waiting an eternity (a week) I finally got shipment confirmation today. I’m seriously not happy that they waited a week to tell me that they’re out of stock on my rear tires. I’m even more unhappy that the car won’t be ready for me to bring up Home this weekend so I can show my nephew my super cool R/C. I can probably bring up the car using the original body & tires but its so disappointing. I wanted my car to have her debut run as Big Pinkie… not The Hottie. The Hottie just looks like she’s been in a rumble or two.

Filling:
1 Cup Cool Whip
1 C powdered Sugar
8 oz cream cheese
Fresh Strawberries

Simply beat together cool whip, cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy. Pour filling into a pie shell. Slice at least enough strawberries to cover the top of the pie, the more the better!!

To make the pie even fancier, top with Strawberry Glaze.

Wow…. I knew I neglected my blog for a while but I didn’t realize it’s been for 2 1/2 months. Life has been pretty uneventful. I’ll run through a few bullets & that should catch you up to speed.

I finally took a ride up to Michigan in February for my friend’s birthday. I’ve been back up twice since then. Once to get fitted for my bridesmaid dress for my friend’s wedding and the other was for a margarita party.

I didn’t finish the quilt in time for Valentine’s Day. In fact, it’s still right where I left it 2 months ago. I had issues when trying to wind the bobbin and got discouraged. Last night I finally decided to quit being afraid of it and got the bobbin wound. Now I just have to finish cutting the material so I can start sewing. BF’s sister’s birthday is the middle of May so that’s my new goal. I plan on having at least one other project finished before then.

I haven’t been gaming much… I’ve cut it down to maybe 6 hours a week at the very most. However, it’s not because I don’t want to. I really need to get my eyes checked because I’m getting frequent headaches when I’m at the computer, watching TV, or playing video games. Boo. I can tolerate the tv or computer if I wear my old glasses but I get nauseated if I’m gaming for more than an hour or so at a time.

Freya turned 1! We had cupcakes & sang Happy Birthday to her. It was too cute. The pics are still on my camera. I’ll get around to uploading those one day.

I’m not sure if Freya is going through her terrible twos or if she has spring fever. Whatever the case… she’s crazy lately. It’s fun until someone gets hurt (that someone would be me).

Reggie can’t decide if he wants to love or hate Freya. One minute he’s playing kissy-face and the next he’s snarling at her.

Denzel is… Denzel. He goes with the flow until Freya gets on his nerves. Maybe that’s why he decided to run away one night.

Tonight Freya, the boys, and I were hanging out watching TV while Boyfriend took a nap. I started flipping through the channels to find a movie when Freya put her buns right in the path of the cable box. Every time I moved the remote, Freya kept getting in the way. Finally I speak up, “Freya! Move your buns! I’m trying to change the channel!“

So what does Freya do? Squats her buns down about 2 inches - just enough for the remote’s signal to hit the cable box - and looks over at me with a “how’s that?“ sort of look on her face. I nearly fell off the chair laughing because it was so freakin’ adorable.

The other night Boyfriend & were hanging out when I suddenly ask him, “Will you help me build an R/C?“ He was excited and told me he was just thinking about that the other day but didn’t know if I’d be interested in it or not. Knowing very well what my patience level is, he said it would probably be better if we start with on that’s already built then customize it the way I want. When something breaks, he’ll show me how to fix it. He offered some advice and grabbed one of his hobby books for me to flip through.

I couldn’t believe it! There are cars that go 70+ mph and run on NOS! He offered to give me his electric car and I can save up for the car I want when he saw my disappointment when the ones I kept picking out were in the $350 range. I took him up on his incredibly sweet gesture so my focused moved from looking at cars to looking at parts.

That’s when I saw her. The body of a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda and she was painted Panther Pink. I pointed and squealed, “I need that one! She matches Piiiinky!!!“ He laughed a little, gave me a kiss on the cheek and said, “Okay….“

I’m quite a bit more excited about this than I thought I’d be. I need to take the car he’s giving me for a test drive before we decide on what I really need. However, I’ve already been scouring Ebay to find <strike>accessories</strike> parts to transform “the car” into “Big Pinky”. I found some bright pink springs, pink lightening bolt shock covers, and some shiny chrome wheels. I originally wanted to go with tough tires that could climb <strike>the highest mountains</strike> up his parent’s driveway without spinning out but now I have to agree with him when he says street rod tires will look best. I guess I’ll save the tough tires for my truck when I get her since one of my requirements is that she needs 4-wheel drive.
Tagged as: excited, r/c, toys

Sew?

A couple weeks ago I was IMing with my friend, Dawn. I was telling her about how bummed I was that I haven’t been able to get back up to Michigan since I moved because I really wanted to pick up my sewing machine. I’ve been looking for something constructive to do on the weekends so I’m not investing all my time in gaming. She’s super excited for me to dive in so she offered to send me one of her Husqvarna Viking Sapphire 830 sewing machines (what an awesome friend, huh????). Excitedly, I took her up on her incredible offer and it was on my doorstep a few days later. The only problem was that I didn’t have any other supplies because they’re up in Michigan so my Sewcapades were put on hold for a little bit.

Today, Boyfriend & I took a ride to Green Bay so he could pick up the guitar he ordered himself as a gift for himself for his 40th birthday. While we were there I picked up a new iron & ironing board as well as a new rotary mat, rotary cutter, ruler, needles, etc. I also bought fabric for a quilt that I’m making for Boyfriend’s sister as a Valentine’s Day gift from us. I’ll post pics of the fabric in the next couple days since I forgot to charge the battery for my camera. Freya absolutely loved the colors… some of them she liked so much that she wanted to eat them! heh.

I’m super nervous since the only other thing I’ve sewn in my life was a quilt for ExH and I had Jeanne’s assistance. This will be the first project on my own (yikes!) and this fancy computerized sewing machine has me slightly intimidated but I’m diving in anyway. I have a few cool projects lined up that I can’t wait to share - like the super cool guy/rocker-ish oven mitts I’m making for Boyfriend and a most fabulous laptop case for the most fabulous pink laptop that I’m getting for work.
Tagged as: friends, sewing

Well, Hello There!

No, I didn’t completely abandon my blog and I know I totally need to get rid of this Christmas theme. The move & new job had me pretty busy for the past month. Life on the home-front has been interesting (but pretty fabulous overall). Boyfriend’s house is tiny… like small studio apartment tiny. Me & my 3 dogs moving in means that stuff is piled everywhere so it is taking a bit of getting use to. I’ve been working 50-60 hours a week so any free time I have after work is spent with my dogs & Boyfriend. I even go 2-3 days at a time without turning on my Xbox 360! Yeah, I’m shocked, too.

Long hours aside, I love my new job. It is so great having my input matter and not constantly be second guessed. It is making me so much more productive. I’ve been told on more than one occasion that it is very fortunate for them that I started when I did otherwise they would have been screwed. The week I started my employer moved into a new facility there were many more IT issues than they ever thought there were going to be.Just to give you an idea of the not-very-well-planned move… even though they weren’t in use, the servers weren’t moved from the old facility so I could put them on the new network until Thursday at 3p and opening was at 3p the next day. I started asking for them when I started that Monday. There were 27 servers that were brought over. None of the vendors were contacted to find out what exactly needed to occur so their software didn’t stop functioning. Yeah… big fun. Thankfully, after a month of insanity, we’re finally slowing down a little so I should be able to start working closer to 40 hours again. Yay!

Even though I wasn’t able to get back up to Michigan because of sucky weather, the holidays were pretty great. Boyfriend & I got our tree about a week before Christmas. It was my first real tree in years and his first Christmas tree ever (besides the one at his parent’s house) so it was pretty special. It was beyond cute how excited he was that we could put our presents under the tree on Christmas Eve & open them when we woke up on Christmas Morning - which was at like 7a, by the way, because he was already awake for an hour and couldn’t contain his excitement anymore. I love the fact that he was totally into “Santa” getting gifts for my dogs. Freya got the world’s biggest bone that we keep stubbing our toes on and the boys got cuddle babies to keep in their houses.

We had a quiet New Year’s Eve. I ended up going into work for a 1/2 day so afterward we just went to a movie, made dinner at home, watched the countdown on TV, and played Video games till the wee hours. Since we stayed up so late and I was exhausted from the long hours I was putting in, I slept most of New Year’s Day away. It was completely fabulous.

Shortly after Christmas Freya went into heat. That’s been quite interested seeing as I never had Reggie neutered. Freya went from being Reggie’s mortal enemy to his best friend on earth… horny old fart. Things are finally starting to calm down from that and we still have peace in the house instead of the constant growling and fighting. And Freya has a play buddy… somewhat.
Tagged as: freya, holidays, life, the boys, the j.o.b.

I’m actually having little tummy flips knowing tomorrow is my last day in my current job… almost to the point of nausea. BossMan is seriously getting on my nerves. I got to the point where I have to limit conversations with him to 5 minute increments because he keeps twisting my words around when I try to explain something to him - which is a BIG treat when he combines that with his usual talking in circles routine. Today after a meeting he asked me to turn in all of my stuff… because, you know, I can give him everything he’s asking for without a friggin’ laptop to work on. I actually had to remind him that I’m still in the office all day tomorrow & my last day isn’t technically until Friday.

Between dealing with his oddness going to a different level since I told him about the other job offer & the normal BS from WenchAcrossTheHall, I went to the “Whatever, I really don’t care” place and I’m finding it difficult to complete last minute things. This sucks because I never had an Eff-It attitude when I left a job before.
Tagged as: holidailies, the j.o.b.
