It Squeaks!
This is Freya’s first encounter with her Squeak. I missed the first 10 seconds of her playing with it and, of course, that was the first time she made it squeak. She absolutely loves this toy!
Her favorite thing to do is squeak the hell out of it while Dave is sleeping. One day I told her, “Shh! You can’t play with Squeak right now. David is sleeping.” So what does she do? Looked at me, bat it 3 times with her paw to make is squeak extra loud then walked away from it.
(The video was so much better with sound but Dave was on the phone. The glove on the floor is used for our play time. She’s learning that it is only okay if she bites the glove.)
*sniff* My baby girl is so little here. :(
I also have a video from this past weekend of her dragging Reggie around the living room by his tail because he wouldn’t play with her. It was quite comical. Reggie even tolerated it for about a minute. She just loves the boys but they want nothing to do with her. I limit their time together right now because they teamed up on her once when all three dogs made it to the front door before we did. I caught them just before they attacked. Fortunately, she still loves them and will take a nap next to their houses just so she can be close. I do have to admit, all 3 of them are getting better around each other but the tolerance level of my boys is still pretty low.

The Cutest Doggie Picture Ever
Yes, I’m probably biased but isn’t her face hilarious?!

Just like her Momma!
Boyfriend called me with the Daily Freya Report this morning while they were playing outside. Freya loves to do this pant leg tug thing. We thought she was just trying to play but this morning he figured out what she’s trying to do. She’ll tug on your pant leg to corral you in or get you where she wants you to go… just like her Mom did to keep all the puppies from running to far away from the house when they were out of their fenced in area. It was quite hilarious to watch Midnight (Freya’s mom) keeping all the puppies in line when we had them out. When she thought one was too far away, she’d run after it then tug on its back legs to get it to come back toward the house. She was a busy dog because two of Freya’s sisters liked to venture off in different directions.
This is the second MomTrick that Boyfriend saw Freya picked up. The first one we noticed was when we were visiting the other puppies on Tuesday. He brought Midnight a couple steak treats. Freya just happened to snag one and took off running to the corner of the house. She immediately started digging a little hole, dropped the bit of steak, and covered it up. It was in the exact same spot where Midnight hid a piece of pizza using the same method on Saturday. That’s the only time Freya did any sort of digging… and at least she had a purpose and was good enough to cover the hole back up!

Dream a little dream
I woke up 45 minutes before my alarm this morning. I had a dream that Boyfriend changed his status on Myspace to “Mastering the art of body language.”
My comment back to him was “you better be referring to my puppy.”

My heart is torn tonight
I had to make an emergency run down to see Boyfriend & Freya this evening. I got a phone call from Boyfriend saying that Freya has worms. He also had a small list of other things he needed for her. I didn’t want my poor puppy to suffer until I got back down here on Friday so I called Bonnie and asked if she & BigBro could check on my boys tonight while I run the stuff to Wisconsin. I really hated to leave the boys behind because they love coming down here but I really, really don’t want them to pick up worms from being around Freya.
When I got down here Boyfriend had Freya outside. She recognized me immediately and came scrambling to my feet. She was so happy to see me! We played outside for a little while then we brought her inside so she could eat and take her medicine. Afterward we took a ride out to the rez so she could visit her mom and siblings. We were pleasantly surprised to see the two males were gone. Freya’s mom and the rest of the girls were so happy to see her. They all played hard for a good half hour before it started raining and we had to leave.
Once we got back to the house Boyfriend & I gave Freya a bath then she and I went to play outside for a while. We played and ran until she was so pooped she had to drag herself inside! Since she was tired I sat on the living room floor so she could snuggle up next to me. She quickly fell asleep with her head resting on my leg. Boyfriend was pretty exhausted, too, so I told him to get some rest while I was here to take care of her. I got up so I could give him a back rub so he could sleep better. I put a blanket that I brought from home on the floor so Freya had something else here that smelled like me. She buried her nose in it immediately, wagged her tail a couple times, then fell back asleep.
Right now Boyfriend is sleeping really hard in the bedroom and Freya is sleeping really hard in her pen. Freya’s floppy ears are pointed straight up right now and, WOW, does she ever look like a malamute. I really hope her ears stay floppy because they make her look so adorable but does she ever look incredible with them pointed. Her silver-blue eyes are turning green. I’m a little bummed about that but I’m happy they’re green instead of brown.
According to Boyfriend, she should be waking up anytime now to go outside. She stirred a few times trying to get comfortable but I think we played so hard she’s going to sleep a little longer. This is pretty damn close to perfection for me. I only wish my boys were here with me.
Oops! I spoke too soon… She just woke up. Time to go outside!
