What I’m doing instead of packing
Today is Vegas Day!!! I have to pick my niece up in a mere 7 hours and my suitcase is still empty. Here’s what I found to do instead:
- Monkeyed around with Jeanne’s website.
- I printed 2 pictures to take with me. One of my family, one of my BF (yes, BF, not StatusPending).
- Flipped through music on my iPod.
- Sent a few texts.
- Played on MySpace.
- Played on Flickr.
- Played Rock Band then put my “equipment” away.
- Stared at my toes, while deciding what color to paint my nails.
Yeah, I hate packing.

The Insanity That Is Me
My dishes must be put away Purple, Yellow, Purple, Yellow, etc. If I find one out of place, I restack them. I was pleased so see that my sisters took note of this when they did dishes after the family get together I hosted. However, I certainly wouldn’t have complained if they weren’t put away right because they were awesome enough to clean my kitchen for me.

Flashback Friday
This morning when I was walking through the halls at the school I heard an applause coming from the gym. The cheers and noise I heard brought me back to when I was 17 and a senior in high school (we’re talking 1991-1992 here). There was a band called The Edge that was touring high schools. I don’t recall how many times they performed at my school while they were in town, but I know it was more than once. They were the typical hairband of the late-80s/really early-90s. I was soooo totally crushing on the lead singer. He had beautiful long blonde hair. Well, it was beautiful back in the day. Now I’d just laugh at him.
I found out he they were going to be at the high school in the town my sister was living in the following week. I drove down and took her step-daughter to the assembly/concert with me. I had a brief moment to talk to the dude and he was all, “You really drove all this way down to see us?” My reply was something along the lines of “I just had to see you again.” How very groupie of me.
heh
So, this little flashback made me think about the Scrollback Saturday that Bonnie has been doing. Scrollback Saturday is where you look back in your blog archives and repost/talk about something you blogged about on the same date in previous years (correct me if I’m off here, Bon). I thought it would be fun to start doing a Flashback Friday where I talk about a little flashback from my past (at least 10 years ago). We’ll see if I actually stick with doing this because any dedicated readers of my blog know I usually end up dropping the ball on stuff. But I figure if I remember to do it every now & then, it’s something!

I really need to follow local news
Several months ago I was at Bonnie’s house and she mentioned that our city was upgrading to automated garbage trucks. I had no clue. She responded something along the lines of “Where the hell have you been?” I don’t follow local media. I don’t listen to the radio or read the newspaper. I really probably should, but I don’t. However, there’s some juicy stuff happening around town that has me interested and I feel the need to blog about it.
A local group called The Underground Theater is producing The Vagina Monologues and the community is going a little wild. Conservatives are going ape-shit about having the production shown at the theater to the point where they’ve threatened to pull funding from both the fine arts center and the other production company that are housed in the same building. An editor of the local newspaper even stated “The first amendment has limits in a small town.” WTFevah! Who the hell are they kidding?
After reading the craziness that’s surrounding the play I decided I had to see it. I wanted to several years ago when I was in Green Bay but just didn’t. I had to shoot off an IM to Bonnie to see if she wanted to join me. And, of course, since I don’t follow local media I had no idea that I lived in such a conservative town and needed her to correct me on that, too.
My thoughts about the drama surrounding the play: If they’re so damn worried about what this tiny little production stands for and the impression it will leave on their teenage children, to the point where they want to shut it down, perhaps they should take a walk into the local bar nicknamed The Dirty D that allows 18+ on Friday & Saturday nights. I bet some of the Stick Up Their Ass Conservatives would be shocked to see their teenage daughters getting dry gang banged by two dudes in the cage up on the stage while Get Loose by T.I. is bumping through the speakers.
